Synopsis

When divorced parents remarry, it can be especially hard on the children as they try to adjust to their new role in their new blended family. Today’s heart breaks when she realizes that her biological parents, Marc and Kia, will not be getting back together. Her pent-up frustrations about the divorce spill out when she shouts she doesn’t want her new family. She doesn’t like living in two houses.

Today’s overheard angry outbursts hurt her stepsiblings, Coco and Mason. Coco tells Today that she is not the only one having a tough time. She also has had to adjust to their parents getting married. Even Morgan, Today’s best friend, is not sure of her role in her best friend’s new life. She gets jealous when she sees Today bonding with her stepsister.

Today meets a boy named Tomorrow. His positive attitude and experiences with own blended family help Today see her family in a different light. With constant reassurances of their love from her parents and stepmom, Mrs. Tori, Today finally accepts that she is lucky to be a part of a blended family.

D.R. Green has been a “bonus mom” for several years. In Today and Tomorrow’s Blended Family, she captures the emotionally charged issues many blended families deal with. As in real life, one conversation is not enough. But through patience and love, children in blended families will realize “family is family”.

Vividly illustrated with fanciful characters, Today and Tomorrow’s Blended Family will appeal to younger children. It is can be great as a conversation starter for parents.
